European Week For Waste Reduction runs from the 20th – 26th November this year and we can get right behind their message on sustainability and waste reduction:
‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! ‘
In fact, it’s a message that we, at BikeTown, have been promoting for years!
Donated bikes are the life blood of Bike Town. A regular influx of donations helps us support our work promoting cycling to local residents through regular activities, events, training and volunteering opportunities. Through selling refurbished bikes sourced from donations we are able to fulfil one of our key aims which is to make cycling more accessible for all by providing quality bikes no matter the individual’s budget.
We are also a Revolve accredited bike shop! Revolve is a quality standard for second-hand stores in Scotland and is awarded to stores that meet high standards in safety, cleanliness and service; giving shoppers that extra reassurance to shop second-hand first. All of our refurbished bikes come with a three-month warranty and we pride ourselves on reducing waste and recycling while never compromising on quality.
We do our best to support other likeminded projects too by collecting used inner tubes and donating them to Cycle Of Good. Cycle Of Good is an initiative that focusses on recycling, saving waste from landfill and designing & producing quality products that are built to last. They currently employ 33 Malawian tailors full time with ambitions to grow to a team of 100. All the while they are supporting local people, paying a good wage and creating useful products with as little waste as possible. Oh, and we stock and sell their wonderful products! Come down and have a look!
