Here at CamGlen Bike Town we’re always looking for a helping hand. Our unit is open 5 days a week as well as us being involved with plenty other events, and volunteers are essential to keeping Bike Town ticking over like a Shimano Dura Ace derailleur.
So what can you do for Bike Town? There’s a few things that we’re always needing help with.
Our model of bike donations and refurbishing means that we accrue a fair amount of scrap bikes. As much as we’d love to fix everything that comes through the door, due to time and manpower it’s just not realistic.
So what we need are bodies to break these scrap bikes down. We provide safety equipment, tea and banter, so get in touch to arrange coming in for a taster session.
For the bikes that make it through the wrecking crew phase, they need to be refurbished to make them safe to ride. Mechanic’s assistants can get involved in this process. Working under the mechanics assistants get the opportunity to learn some of the ins and outs of bike repair, as well as a bit about our processes at Bike Town.
We need help on the shop floor as well as in the workshop. Whether it’s dealing with orders as they come through, assisting with arrangements on the shop floor, or most importantly making sure that the customer gets the bike that best suits them.
Learn new skills and the confidence to work in an interesting retail environment.
If you want to get involved with some actual cycling in a volunteer role, then this might be for you. We have led rides going out regularly and are always looking for confident indivduals to become ride leaders and make sure the Bike Town users are safe and happy on their travels.
